Conceição Bravo is Assistant Professor in the Language Department at the University of the Algarve, Portugal, where she teaches English Language and English Culture courses, English for Academic Purposes and Portuguese as a foreign language to undergraduates. Her main research interests are: language teaching methodology, learner autonomy, intercultural competence and audiovisual translation.
Her Ph.D in Translation and Intercultural Studies from Universitat Rovira I Virgili, Tarragona, Spain, focused on the usefulness of subtitles for foreign-language learners/teachers: Putting the Reader in the Picture: screen Translation and foreign-language learning.
She is Director of a Post-graduation program in Translation and teaches Translation Theory and translation workshops.
